David comes from four generations of professional photographers. His mentor was Philippe Halsman, the legendary Life Magazine cover photographer. With grants in the arts, he specialized in dance, theater, portraiture, and published the magazine Dance Life. As a photographer, David’s subjects have ranged broadly: from the President of the United States (congressmen, governors and mayors, too) to school children; from gangsters to firefighters; from the world’s greatest ballet dancers to tango pros to jazz dancers and musicians; from boxers to circus performers; from rock stars and celebrities to performers from virtually all over the world. David’s art photography has been shown in numerous galleries, museums and books. In 2004 he was honored with a United States postage stamp featuring his performance photography of America’s greatest choreographer, George Balanchine.
